Early on, the company primarily manufactured switching equipment for the distribution of electricity. 1 May 1937: Launch of J. van Alfen's factory of high and low-voltage devices in Hilversum
1965: First order for a transformer station for the Provincial North Brabant Electricity Company (the 'PNEM')
1971: Alfen becomes part of OGEM (TBI)
1976: Delivery of first concrete compact station
1983: Alfen relocates from Hilversum to Almere
1986: Alfen takes over the production of transformer stations from Holec
2002: Delivery of the 10,000th transformer station
2003: Introduction of the Diabolo series of compact stations
2005: Introduction of Rondo/Peperbus
2007: Change of name to Alfen
2007: Development of the Intelligent Station
2007: Launch of Alfen Belgium
2007: Start of Sicuro production for generator interfaces
2008: Start of EV Charging Stations
2011: Delivery of the 1,000th public charging station in the Netherlands
2011: Acquisition of EXENDIS, the specialist in the field of converters and chargers.
2011: Elected Entrepreneur of the Year
2012: Alfen's 75th anniversary
2014: Expansion of EV charging to the United Kingdom, France and Germany
2014: Delivery of the 25,000th transformer station
2015: Development of station automation
2016: Roll-out of new applications for the Alfen energy storage system: trade, frequency regulation, load balancing and autonomous grids
2018: Alfen is floated on the stock exchange and becomes a public company
2018: Alfen launches its mobile energy storage system, which can be deployed everywhere to generate green electricity
2020: The 100,000th EV charging station is produced in March
2020: Further internationalisation, now to Italy, Poland and Spain
2021: Alfen is listed on the Euronext Midcap index
