Dutch Power marks 20th anniversary with 1st 2025 event hosted at Alfen
23 January, the Netherlands – This week, Alfen was proud to mark Dutch Power’s 20th anniversary by hosting the organisation’s first 2025 event. Dutch Power is a foundation with other key industry leaders to foster collaboration and innovation in the energy sector. The event, titled "Gezocht: Ruimte voor Versnelling" (Seeking: Room for Acceleration), brought together members from across the energy sector to explore how the Netherlands can accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy future.
Dutch Power, co-founded by Alfen about two decades ago with the vision of fostering collaboration and innovation in the energy sector, continues to thrive with a wide network of prominent players regarding the Dutch electricity grid. Via the foundation grid operators, suppliers, universities, governments, innovation partners and other key players from around the Netherlands can meet, share and inspire.

“Organising this first event in the 20th anniversary year as one of the founding members of Dutch Power kickstarts this year”, says Alfens chairman of the day, Peter Kok. “I felt inspired to find ways to accelerate the energy transition with our partners.”
Alfen remains actively involved in Dutch Power, with one of its leaders currently serving on the foundation's board. Through regular events held 6 times a year, Dutch Power provides a platform for members to connect, share knowledge and work together on initiatives that drive the sector forward.
At this event, Hanno van Maanen, an Alfen project manager in smart grid projects, took the stage with Enexis to co-present Alfen and Enexis' innovative approach to large-scale expansion and how standardisation and shifting processes in the supply chain is helping to create grid capacity faster during times of grid congestion in the Netherlands.
Alfen’s collaboration with Enexis on the Proof of Concept to create faster installation of transport distribution stations is a key example of how innovative solutions are enabling the growth and resilience of the energy network. Alfen’s efforts to support Enexis’ capacity-building project, featured recently in our news update, highlight the importance of collaboration in achieving long-term energy goals.
The event represents the first of many to celebrate Dutch Power’s 20th anniversary, and it is an exciting opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the past two decades while looking forward to the future of energy innovation.
