What will you do?

As Team Lead Product Development Engineering for our charging stations , you will manage a team of Mechanical Engineers & Industrial Designers working on Alfen's charging infrastructure. Alfen offers a complete range of electric charging stations for home, business and public areas. Our smart charging stations come in a wide variety of charging capacities and functionalities. Alfen's powerful combination of transformer stations, energy storage systems and charging stations enables decentralized power generation and load balancing.

As Team Lead Product Development Engineering, you will be responsible for leading and inspiring a team of engineers for both New Product Development (NPD), as well as Product LifeCycle (PL). Both groups each have their own Lead Engineer(s).

Your leadership and drive will play a crucial role in realizing our mission to provide sustainable energy solutions that will change the world.

Within this team you fulfill the role of manager. The department currently consists of 19 engineers. In this role, you will outline future plans and ensure further professionalization and expansion of the department, systems and processes. As team lead, you will work closely with our project managers, the team leads of other departments, various R&D employees, colleagues from the production department and QHSE department, and you will report to the Manager Product Development Engineering. To get a more complete picture of the position, here are some of your  main duties:

Management & Organization:

  • Stakeholder management & change management;
  • Leading the team and ensuring optimal allocation of employees to projects/subsystems in close cooperation with the lead engineer;
  • Prioritizing and organizing work in close cooperation with the program manager & project managers, paying attention to capacity and availability of team members, as well as monitoring the progress of projects;
  • Supervise, coach and motivate employees to achieve targets and output;
  • Conducting periodic targets, performance and assessment interviews and advising on terms and conditions of employment;
  • Evaluating a departmental strategy and goals for team members;
  • Ensuring a good communication structure and coordination between teams and departments, as well as identifying training needs of employees.

Guidance & Engineering:

  • Function as a sparring partner and guide & facilitate technical discussions;
  • Liaise with other teams and external parties to discuss technical and organizational matters;
  • Optimize the knowledge and skills available within the team to meet the requirements set;

Continuous improvement:

  • Analyzing processes and making recommendations for the purpose of increasing efficiency and cost savings;
  • Initiating and implementing process improvements and associated tools, including leading implementation projects for changes in processes and practices.

We have specialized teams in software, electrical engineering, power electronics and mechanical engineering.   • In possession of a college or university degree, preferably in mechanical engineering or industrial design;
  • At least 10 years of experience in multidisciplinary product development;
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Master the Dutch and English language, both verbally and in writing;
  • Have experience in environments that combine processes, commerce, people, technology and project delivery.
