What will you do?

As an Electrical Design Engineer at Alfen, you will be responsible for the detailed development of electrical systems, from concept through to practical, standardized solutions. You will work on energy storage systems and smart grid solutions, selecting components, creating electrical diagrams, and ensuring that designs meet the project’s technical specifications and market requirements. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and ensure smooth project execution while making independent decisions within the concept framework.

Your tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Contributing significantly to the standardization of electrical solutions, drawings, and components.
  • Managing and developing standardized building blocks for electrical systems.
  • Translating concepts into concrete electrical designs and technical specifications.
  • Developing and drawing detailed electrical documents, including system designs and product specifications.
  • Selecting appropriate components and providing recommendations to the Purchasing department.
  • Documenting designs accurately (electrical diagrams and drawings) and providing necessary input for technical documentation (manuals).
  • Supporting the team and internal stakeholders by explaining designs and key functionalities.
  • Adhering to all relevant quality, safety, and environmental standards, and following the required work methods and QHSE procedures.

What do we ask from you?

We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer with a strong technical background, a structured approach, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Additionally:

  • MBO4/HBO degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering (Energy Technology).
  • Knowledge of electrical installations and systems.
  • Experience with Autocad or Eplan for electrical design.
  • Knowledge of project-based work and experience in translating customer-specific requirements into concrete electrical designs.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • VCA VOL certification.
  • Excellent command of both Dutch and English, written and spoken.
